INTERVIEWS WITH INGROWING

Ingrowing
1. Hi guys. How are you all after comeback from tour? Is any of you got unwell or below par of your healthy? Hopefully your guys in good condition and been able to carry on your works. First words to all the reader? How’s your day in Czech Republic after the sun raped in Asia?

Friendly greetings from Europe to you!!! Now we are ok, but straight after coming back from the tour, it was really shock, believe me. To come from such a warm country to the so fucking cold wasn’t too pleasant. The whole month, we enjoyed lovely and hot weather and suddenly such a turnover. But meanwhile spring came and even the weather is more pleasant now. Also our health is still good, no malaria, no yellows, no SARS.:-) Just common colds from the changes of climate, but nothing serious. We live our normal lives again: work, rehearsals, gigs, girlfriends and wifes, parties…

2. How's the tour? I understand this is the first tour in Asia for Ingrowing. How does it feel to come back to Asia again? As we know no body is perfect and can't escape from doing mistakes on this world. Did you all satisfied with Ingrowing performances during the tour? How about from the individual side? Is there any weakness or something that your guys things need to perk up or improve in future? Any ideas?

Our Asian tour was just fantastic! To speak for myself, I can say, it was even much better than I had ever expected. It was something special and we all enjoyed it a lot. You can bet yourself, if there would be one day in the future a chance to go again, we would agreed straight away. And hopefully in full line up with Eddie, who missed it this time. If we feel up to it? No doubt! Man, we yearn for it!!! To see all the known places and to meet all our new friends we met during that month... Hopefully we manage it one day. What concerns our stage performance, I would say, we dont have to be ashamed. Except for our first gig in Bangkok, where were some troubles, we are satisfied. The best we played probably in Bandungu in Indonesia. That was great gig with fantastic sound and even better fans. But of course, there is always something to improve, so I hope the next time in Asia we will play even better!!!

3. Tell us your personal view about an Asian. From a nation, populations and cultures? Do you all perceive some different for 3 things that I mention in Asian country between Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia?

Firstly I must say, that our Asian trip was absolutely new experience on all hands! Everything was for us new and novel and first days we looked at all with eyes wide open. After first shock and acclimatization we started to perceive details a could afford to compare. Especially after we visited except Thailand also other named countries. We were quite a lot suprised by religions. Here in Czech are 75% of people Atheists. In Asia I didn't meet even one such a person. Just Muslims, Buddhists, Hindunists or Christians. Really interested. And they all tolerate each other, hard to believe! We were impressed by hearty behaviour of Thai people, sense for tidiness of inhabitants of Malaysia and Singapore and naturalness of Indonesians. On every our step we were meeting up with rich culture and history on one side (eg. Buddhistic temples in Bangkok) and with modern and huge technical bloom (Petronas towers in Kuala Lumpur). We have plenty of experiences for the rest of our lives.

4. How's the support from crowd in Asian. Did you see any different or diverse from all the places and situate that you depart on this tour. Can tell us the best place or venue on this tour that you have been from a few aspects like the stage for performance, sound systems, and crowd? Which 1 was the best and which 1 was the worse?

Reaction fans during our shows, is another thing, we will remember forever. It's just not comparable to Europe! Or we just didn't experience anything like this before. The way of enjoying gigs in your country is just unbelievable!!! Don't know why, maybe because fans in Asia are not so spoiled by so many gigs like those in Europe. The craziest fans were probably those ones in Indonesia, especially gigs in Malang, Surabaya, Bandung and Tangerang were just mad! Also the second show in Bangkok and Singapore were excellent. Don't want to say, that the other were bad, but these ones were really special. I meant the reaction of fans. The best sound and PA was in Bandung, which I already mentioned. The same our live performance. Just at 2 places we experienced a little dissapointment. In Jogyakarta was audience, which wasn't interested in us at all and showed it us really well. During the whole set was in front the stage only 1 guy. But during shows of local bands was atmosphere ok. Really weird. In Tangerang wasn't the gig so bad, but here we were dissapointed by unfair behaviour of local organizer. That's probably all.

5. Why do you put Asian Sunris(c)e Raping as a name for this Asian Ingrowing tour? What's your expectation about Asia in terms of weather and foods before you come? And your comments about it? How many clothes you bring during the tour? He!he!he! What are the preparations that you did before coming to Asia? You guys nearly cancel the tour because of the Tsunami...

The name is combination of part of our song 'Sunrape' and that inserted don't have to explain much, do I?:-) Though rice is food number 1 in Asia! That name thought out Chymus from Isacaarum and we love it!!! Otherwise we had some info about food and weather from our friends, who had already this countries visited. So we knew little bit how it looks like, but such things is better to live by ourselves. What concerns clothes, we managed almost only with t-shirts and shorts (except for traveling by air-conditioned bus :-) ). We knew we were going to get hot, but we didn't absolve any special preparation because of it. It's hard to prepare for it, if here is snowing and minus 10 degrees, hehe. Don't even remind us Tsunami. Firstly we were totally shocked by that horror which happened and secondly we were seriously thinking about cancellation the whole tour. Nowadays we are glad we didn't do it, of course, but yet 3 weeks before departure we didn't know if we were going to fly somewhere. Don't be astounded, local media bombed us 24 hours a day with horrible tv shots from affected areas. 24 hours of misery, destruction, suffering and death. Believe me, it was easy to fall of. Fortunatelly we overcame the fear and don't regret at all now!!!

6. Do you all have good memories on this tour? How about bad memories. Maybe we can share it together here and take it constructive to improve our lives. Shall we? Let know us a new things or a sweet place that your guys obtain from this tour like nice place in Asian, entertainment or whatever thing that your guys things can share with us?

Oh, there are plenty of wonderful memories, no sense to talk here about any special one, I think. From all those beautiful places we liked a lot Bangkok, Pattaya (fantastic beach!!!), Kuala Lumpur and Bali. I also will never forget on meeting with several exclusive ladies (hi Seni and Yeyen!!!). Rob and Zbyna would surely talk about their night adventure in Bangkok and sleeping on the bench directly in front of buddhist temple. :-) Bad memories is not so much, we rather remember those good ones, that's obvious. Most of it, it was all about adventure. For example, when were jumping rats in our hotel room. That was really cool!!!:-) Sometimes we were pissed of with some unreliable people (especially in Indonesia), constant waiting, fucking hot, traffic jams in Bangkok and maybe I would find a few other little things, which spoiled our mood. But that are details, which will nobody remember in a few years. ASIA RULES!!!

7. How do you keep up the enthusiasm playing the songs, shouts, blasting the drums and performed on this tour? How you all manage and maintain your energy, times and emotion for every show? Is it sufficient if we just keep practicing? From what I know, you have 2 shows on the same day and it was in Johore Bahru and the next show in Singapore. What you all feel about this?

We just love it and from that, it starts everything else. Practising, playing gigs, recordings, travelling and other things, which belong to it. We have chosen this life and some of us devoted it much more than just a little bit of bucks and time. We still have craving and motivation to carry on, we haven't said our last word yet! When we will feel, that it doesn't satisfy us anymore, we end up. I believe, it's still faraway. Though, sometimes it costs some extra power, we keep on. That's even case of the day, when we played 2 shows in 1 day, in Johore Bahru and in Singapore. It was difficult especially physicaly. In Johore we played in the afternoon, short break, some food and move to Singapore straight away. Yeah, it wasn't so far, but traffic jam caused we were on the way for 3 hours. Fortunately, we were already awaited by Fahmy from Demisor and Jali (thanks bro for all!!!) and also at the place of the gig we had enough time to get ready for our show. Both places had cool air-conditioned clubs. But that fucking hot during the journey was really tiring. Fortunately both gigs were fantastic, so the tireness was easy to beat up.

8. All your fans in Asian have given the credit for taking Grindcore music to a new level through in your good work on 'Cyberspace', 'Suicide Binary Reflections', 'Sunrape', 'Decameron of Grind' plus some split releases and compilations. What is your preparation to preserve and remain into this level and in the future?

We plan another records and playing live. Of course, also promotion like inties, selling t-shirts and another promo materials. Another way doesn’t exist. If band doesn’t work on themselves, nobody knows about them. Little bit to our future plans. Our fans can look forward to, except for our best of CD ‘Decameron of Grind’ which was already released, also to another Ingro stuff. Soon should be out long time awaited 7”EP Exhumed / Ingrowing, in winter then our next full album ‘Cloned and Enforced’ early next year. Get ready for total massacre!!! Yet before the end of the year should in Asia come out 6 way CD, includes except of us, also Rotten Sound, Mass Separation, Extreme Decay, Masochist and Failure Trace. And of course, we want to play live as much as possible. As you can see, we have a lot to do!!!

9. On your opinion, is Asia a paradise for tourists to shopping? What did you buy? How about tourism? Which country do you think that is worth for you to visit in the future? Any recommendations for the future touring bands / people who re-planning to come to Asia?

Asia is surely paradise for tourists, that’s obvious at first look when someone comes to Bangkok, hehe. In Asia is so many unbelievable places to visit! In Asia is so many beautiful places, which are worth seeing. And what’s more, all is much cheaper than in Europe, which is also cool. We saw just a bit of that, what we wanted to see and that’s why I would like to go back. Either with the band or just as common tourist. I would love to see Thailand again, it has amazed me. Also Malaysia, where we spent not even a week. I want to learn more about this country. From countries, which I haven’t seen yet, it would be Japan and China for sure.

10. From what I know, Ingrowing have a four present line up. On Asian Sunrise Raping tour, I proverb that Ingrowing are 3 piece line up only. Where is Eddie? Want to carve up something with us? Why Eddie is not coming…

You’re right, normaly we are four piece band. Eddie wasn’t with us for 1 simple reason. He has a wife and a daughter and didn’t want to take a risk in catching any infection or something related to Tsunami. Understand, nobody of us knew, how it was going to look like, if there’s any danger of epidemie or so. Daily tv spots were really bad. The rest of crew is single and without children, so we risked only our health, but Eddie is father and earns money for his family. I’m sure, you understand, know ahead. Eddie was really sad about it, especially after that, he saw photos on internet and found out, that there’s actually no danger. But we his desicion fully respected and had our full support and understanding. Next time he is going to go with us for sure!!!

11. I heard that you guys loves Chelsea very much, you even watched every Chelsea’s match during the tour too? It seems that your supports towards football sport are very strong. Does it mean that all people in Europe especially Czech Republic love football like you do? Do you play football? Where do you have time to do all these activities?

Chelsea is my favorite football club, so when I had a chance to see them play, I used it with pleasure! But I´m not such a fanatic like Curby. He is not just fan, but also active player. He knows about every league in Europe, he knows who play where, he watches all football matches on television. Total maniac! Otherwise nobody else from our band is interested in football. Maybe Eddie, but only when is any bigger tournament, eg. Euro or World Cup. And Czechs like a nation love football, but that’s nothing to compare eg. To Italians, Spanish or Brits. For them is football religion!

12. What I want to be acquainted with and I’m so sure the readers also…..the brief history about Ingrowing from the beginning and what was the idea and scheme putting to this band to subsist in this planet? All of you have few project bands too, mind to tell us a about that?

OK. We started in July ‘95. Before we all played in other bands, which either quitted or just stopped giving us pleasure. The original line – up is Vlakin (bass, voice), Pouzar (guitar), Milan (guitar) and Zbyna (drums). Milan left after a year and half. He was replaced by Eddie, who plays with us so far. We released 3 full CD’s, 2 split Cd’s, 1 compilation CD and a few tapes and vinyls. We played 2 big European tours along Exhumed and Isacaarum and along Phobia. We just finished our first South Eastern tour and several smaller ones. In total we played more than 400 gigs in 18 countries. Last year after 9 years left the band guitarist Pouzar, who was straight away replaced by our current guitar player Rob. So actual line up is Vlakin (bass, voice), Eddie (guitar), Rob (guitar), Zbyna (drums). So that our history. Yeah, we have also some projects, you´re right. Rob playes in Locomotive, which is some kind of modern thrashcore. He is in this band for about 5 years. In Czech they are very popular and have also succesfull trips around Europe. Something for fans of Sepultura or Machine Head. Together with Zbyna play yet in a band called Antistar Company. That´s a new band, without regular album at the moment, but very interesting. Mix of grind, HC, thrash, all together. Very freshy and original. I´m looking forward to hear their CD!!! Eddie has Ingrowing and that’s enough for him. :-) I’m playing yet with Plastic Grave, which is very old band, being on with stops since ‘91. But CD was released only recently. Its called Noizy Graves & Plastic Chronicles. Everyone in the band loves old school metal, HC and grind core and you can fucking hear it there! Really funny music with some grind core, punk and death metal influences. That´s all!

13. I know Ingrowing have been toured together with Phobia in Europe. We necessitate more information and some sort of news about this tour. Can you all tell and enlighten the readers concerning this? If Ingrowing can be tour with another bands, who would you want it to be? Black Sabbath maybe? Any special moments with them? Your comment on Phobia?

With Phobia we went 5 weeks long tour in 2003. We promoted ‘Sunrape’, them their CD ‘Grind Your Fuckin Head In’. Like this was also named the whole tour. It was 5 weeks full of playing, drinking and big fun. Guys from Phobia are really great mates, with whom was a real pleasure to travel across Europe and crush european stages. They play quite for long time and know very well how to play the real GRIND CORE!!! I´m glad we went with them. With got new fans, because Phobia play a bit different music from ours. Live shows visited punks, crusters, dreadlocks and so on… Not all of them liked us, but all of them respected us and usually appreciated our performance. We just loved it and have cool memories about it. We hope to repay them their visit in USA!!! And if I could choose a band to go on tour with? If you don´t mind, I tell you several ones: Napalm Death, Nasum, Repulsion, General Surgery, Terrorizer and above all Slayer!!! That’s of course utopia, but it would be cool, what do you think?:-) From non-existing bands I would choose Brutal Truth, Carcass or Impetigo!

14. Who are the most of the lyrics-writing for the band and what provokes the lyrics? How long have you all been playing equipments? I’m so sure on a free time, your guys got listen keen on other music. What type of others music you all preferred? Maybe rock, jazz, funk or country? Do you like other country’s national anthem?

Lyrics are written for us by our mate Chymus from Isacaarum. And I would say, that they are very good. Very abstract and thinkable. Even myself have sometimes some of his lyrics to understand. Of course, firstly we consult them together before, so I have a little advantage than fans. :-) Provocative lyrics? Do you mean porn or gore themes? Yeah, ok, but it shouldn’t be stupid and some kind of humour must be felt. Thats case of Impetigo or Isacaarum. It should look like this! On the other side exist many bands with using a lot of blood without any sense and that´s not much for me. But if someone have this needs, no problem, I respect it. If they don´t hurt anyone, it doesn´t bother me. Or if any idiot won´t take an axe and goes to streets or those stupids, who kills their own class full of other children. That´s a real danger! Music equipments? Don´t understand what you exactly mean. If you mean our musical kits, it´s classic.:Marschall, Messa Boogie, Pearl, Meinl, Ibanez, Krammer, Jackson, Shure. I also didn’t understand your question about national antems. Yeah, canadian is quite good, hehehe. Otherwise in our spare time we drink beer, enjoy our girlfriends and wives, sit by comp, video, DVD players, go to cinemas and gigs and listen to music. Not only grind core, we like all, which is good. For example I like Faith No More, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Depeche Mode, The Cure and old Metallica, Iron Maiden, Rammstein and plenty other mainstream bands. I also like old school thrash, death, hard core, just old brutal music. The roots are the basic!!!

15. Ok, we have reached the end of this interview. Say your last words to all the reader… and your comment for our Asian fans!!!

Ok. Thanks a lot for this really loooooooong intie. Good luck in your work!!! Greetings to all our fans in Asia and big thanks to all of you, who supported us on our tour, you were great!!! I believe we see each other again!!! Cheers once again!!! Stay by us!!! STACK SICK!!!
